Friends of Sabeel, North America
EPIC program grant - 2005
EPIC was one of more than 40 religious, academic, and peace groups sponsoring a two-day conference in Denver, CO, at the Montview Presbyterian Church on October 21-22, 2005. The conference featured 16 diverse workshops with 18 guest presenters. It was attended by between 300 and 400 people. Participants at the conference gave enthusiastic feedback to the organizers.
Sabeel is a Palestinian Christian organization, based in Jerusalem, which is committed to nonviolence and promotes a just solution to the conflict in the Holy Land. Sabeel is an Arabic word that means "the way" and "spring of water". Sabeel encourages individuals and groups from around the world to work for a just, comprehensive, and enduring peace informed by truth and empowered by prayer and action. Rev. Desmond Tutu from South Africa is the International Patron of Sabeel. Friends of Sabeel-North America is a member of Sabeel International and works in partnership with Jews, Christians, and Muslims to provide regional educational conferences featuring speakers from Palestine and Israel.
